“ Heres Henrys Hunan is a familyowned gem that brings the authentic flavors of their hometown to life with their spicy signature dishes. We visited as a group of 16, including 5 kids, and were fortunate to get a table on a busy holiday weekend. For many of us, this was our first time trying traditional Chinese vegetarian food, and it did not disappoint. The green tea was incredibly soothing and paired perfectly with our meal. We started with appetizers the onion cake and spring rolls, which were delicious, though slightly on the oily side. For the main course, we tried a variety of dishes Chinese greens Simple yet packed with flavor. Vegetarian chow mein Perfectly cooked noodles with a great balance of spices. Vegetarian fried rice with tofu Light yet satisfying. Kung Pao Tofu Spicy, flavorful, and a favorite among the group. Sauteed eggplant Meltinyourmouth delicious. The portions are generous, and the food tends to be spicy, so be sure to let them know if you prefer less heat. The staff were amazingfriendly, attentive, and helpfulwhich made the experience even more enjoyable. Well definitely be coming back! ”
“ Went here with my Chinese friend and we had to ask for the special Chinese menu, they gave us the regular one at first. I would say if youre not too familiar with Chinese food, stick to the English one but we both enjoyed the food here a lot! The food is spicy how I like it but I recommend getting the sweet tea with it to combat the spice. Between the 2 of us we had 5 dishes and took home whatever we didnt finish. Ill definitely be coming back to try the pork belly ”
“ I love coming back to Henry Hunans. Tugged away in a little side street just next to Salesforce Park, this family owned restaurant offers solid Chinese American cuisine. Love their stuffed pancake appetizer and dumplings. ”
“ Visiting from Washington and stumbled upon this place, which is a few blocks from my hotel. If you come to SF for a conference, and you like spicy Chinese food, come to this place. As someone from Hunans adjacent province, i can attest to the authenticity of food here. however, pls go with a friend who speaks chinese or ask for the chinese menu. they do have separate menus. The meat is appropriated seasoned, veggies very fresh, flavorful yet not too saucy. My favorite Chinese restaurant so far. ”

“ Best Chinese food in the country! Great lunch specials and cant go wrong with anything on the menu. Also great for dinner, and typically less busy than the lunch hour. Curry chicken and garlic chicken are two of my favorite dishes, and the potstickers come in a great sauce that makes for an excellent starter. Friendliest staff, authentic food, top notch meal every time! ”
“ Great space south of Market to grab authentic spicy Chinese food. From the egg rolls and meat pies, hot and sour soup, or special al la carte dishes, it is just special. Try the spicy eggplant or tofu for sure, add either a beef or shrimp plate too! ”
“ WARNING DO NOT GET THE ENGLISH MENU This restaurant is phenomenal. Its the best Chinese food Ive eaten outside of China. Make sure to ask for the Chinese menu, and definitely get the frog and the noodles. The low reviews seem to be from people ordering Americanized items off the English menu ie kung pao chicken, lo mein, etc. ”
